SLA draft advice on the Scottish Governments draft Climate Action Plan and the Just Transition Commission’s Report – 2nd February 2022
In October 2021 the outputs of the SLA short term working groups were presented at a debate on 7th October 2021 to gather membership views and establish an agreed SLA response to assist the Scottish Government moving forward on four landscape and place public policy opportunities in order to strengthen the role in delivering Scotland’s national outcomes and Scotland’s contribution to embedding the principles of the European Landscape Convention and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Working Group 3 focussed on the Draft Climate Action Plan and the Just Transition Commission’s Report and considered the approach to large scale landscape change from agriculture, renewables and forestry. The draft output attached has been prepared to advise the Scottish Government of the key messages from Scotland’s Landscape Alliance on the place of landscape in:-
- meeting climate change targets and delivering a just transition to sustainable net-zero future; and
- to position this work as a key enabler in the Scottish Government’s ambitions towards a fairer, greener, healthier Scotland.
