SLA Working Group 1 – Considerations on Reaching the ‘30×30 Targets’ – 2nd February 2022
In October 2021 the outputs of the SLA short term working groups were presented at a debate on 7th October 2021 to gather membership views and establish an agreed SLA response to assist the Scottish Government moving forward on four landscape and place public policy opportunities in order to strengthen the role in delivering Scotland’s national outcomes and Scotland’s contribution to embedding the principles of the European Landscape Convention and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Working Group 1 have provided the attached key messages from Scotland’s Landscape Alliance of the potential that landscape perspectives can provide in:-
- Delivery of the stated intention of UK/SG target of 30% of the land area of Scotland to be protected by 2030 and
- consideration of how certain Policy development can benefit communities of both People and Place as well as biodiversity across Scotland.
